Biography

Marcia L. Gasper, an Associate Professor of Nursing at East Stroudsburg University, has had a long a varied career in nursing higher education. She earned an MSN from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing ( ranked 7th in U.S News and World Report America’s Best Graduate Schools), specializing in Maternal-Child Nursing. Her EdD in Instructional Design and Technology was also earned at the University of Pittsburgh. With her co-author, Patricia Dillon, Dr. Gasper has published Clinical Simulations for Nursing Education, which includes both instructor and learner volumes as a comprehensive resource for incorporating simulation across the nursing curriculum. Selected simulation scenarios from the book were licensed by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing for use in their award-winning research, “The NCSBN National Simulation Study: A Longitudinal, Randomized, Controlled Study Replacing Clinical Hours with Simulation in Prelicensure Nursing Education. Dr. Gasper’s research interests include health promotion for women and infants, the use of technology in nursing education, and strategies for promoting success for the high risk student.
